IRCTC Started Cash On Delivery (COD) Service On Online Railway Ticket Booking/Reservation – bookmytrain

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCRC), had first time offer the cash on devilery payment option for buying railway tickets and this are available through a partnership with BookMyTrain.com

In India, COD option is the most preferred method. India has a vibrant cash economy as a result of which more than 60% of e-commerce truncations in India are tend to be Cash on Delivery (COD). Due to security concerns of revealing the card details on websites has often acted as a block to buyers. As the process takes time, which may in turn changes the status of the seat availability while buying through any payment gateway. Indian consumer in general and still worried of buying online and feels as unfamiliar way of shopping.

By offering cash on delivery option will help the consumers without internet banking and credit/debit cards to book tickets online without depending on travel agents. It will encourage the people to go online and book their tickets rather than wait in the ticket counters at railway stations and it will result in less consumers at the reservation counters in turn their will be great saving for Indian Railways and customers.


As there will be cost associated to operate these counters for railways and the cost for the customers to reach these ticket counters and waiting in the queue. The COD service will be available in more than 200 cities at present.

Bookmytrain.com will be the first website to accept cash on delivery for railway tickets. It is drive by Anduril Technologies Pvt LTD, to modernise the online ticket booking by introducing COD payment option. “Bookmytrain.com will also going to launch voice based ticket booking service to the customers based upon the performance and success rate COD service”, Said Anurag Bajpai founder of BookMyTrain.com.
